Joseph Bernard
Chief Operating Officer
Joseph Bernard began his career in health care management with Health Management Associates (HMA), Inc., as the Associate Administrator at Lehigh Regional Medical Center in Lehigh Acres, Florida. He then served as the Associate Administrator at Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda, Florida, and was subsequently promoted to Chief Operating Officer at Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte, Florida.
Prior to joining HMA, Mr. Bernard served in the United States Marine Corps primarily as a helicopter pilot. He retired at the rank of lieutenant colonel after more than 22 years of service.
As the Chief Operating Officer at Physicians Regional-Collier Boulevard, Mr. Bernard provides administrative management for hospital operations and service line development, and oversees ancillary and support departments throughout the facility, including: Human Resources, Pharmacy, Food and Nutrition Services, Laboratory, Cardiopulmonary/Respiratory, Radiology, Physical Therapy, Environmental Services, and Facilities.
Mr. Bernard has a Master of Arts degree in management from Webster University and a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.
He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Military Officers Association of America. He also currently serves on the Florida Gulf Coast University Advisory Board for the College of Health Professions, and is involved with the Economic Development Council of Collier County on the Creative Technologies Working Group.
